The Lost Village
In a remote Indian village a child experiences many summer vacations. Near death experiences, lack of amenities, and unique rituals challenged his life. But, festive occasions, unconditional love, and natural beauty held it together. Although he coped with untimely passing of loved ones, motivation to reconnect came from remembering the past. Yet, the village, a point in history is lost forever!

Houses
Thatched Houses....
People picking up cow dung....
Houses with decorations....usually rice flour in water is used as paint and finger as the drawing tool!
Yes people do live in such small thatched houses. Imagine life when it rains!
A tube well like this can provide uncontaminated water to prevent many diseases.

Nice footpaths in villages.....all natural! Not convenient!!

Tulasi Podium
One of the sacred places in any home in my village. A poduim made out of mud to hold the tulashi plant. It is like a flower pot, but made by hand. After bath and at dusk, women used to put water and place an oiled lamp each day of the year. The symbolic gesture of this ritual was of utmost significance to me as a child growing up.
